Welcome! I began my pursuit toward a Masters in Education in fall 2010 because of a desire to increase my knowledge on issues facing our students and higher education in promoting a successful educational experience. EAD 801: Leadership and Organizational Development Instructor: G. Jennings Course Description: In this course I learned techniques of the interaction of leadership with organizational culture and development through differing educational organizations. In the following paper I explored a personal example of effective leadership within the Office of Financial Aid at MSU using the six ISLLC Standards of education.

EAD 860: Concepts of a Learning Society Instructors: S. Weiland and N. Sheltrown Course Description: This particular course involved several learning theories with special focus on the role of technology in our learning process moving within specific learning modes. I wrote the following paper on Gawande and the Performance mode within our working careers.

ED 800: Concepts of Educational Inquiry Instructor: S. Weiland Course Description: Educational Inquiry was a new concept for me as I was unfamiliar with the term. What I learned in this course was differing theories and practices toward learning and teaching. One example of educational inquiry consisted of "Method of Knowing" and it is the basis for this course paper.

EAD 864: Adult Career Development Instructor: S. Weiland Course Description: In EAD 864 I learned theory on psychological, social and institutional elements of careers based on changing conditions of work and learning. In this course I read biographical novels regarding career choices and viewed fictional videos revolving around an individual's career based upon differing learning modes.

EAD 850: Issues and Strategies in Multicultural Education Instructor: R. Mabokela Course Description: As a financial aid officer in a multicultural university I chose this course to better understand the issues and barriers that exist within an increasingly multicultural educational setting as well as learning of means to bridge the gap of understanding between cultures as I explored in a comparative analysis on the power of language.

TE 836: Awards and Classics of Children's Literature Instructors: L. Apol and T. Gustafson Course Description: Because of my love of literature, I enjoyed learning about children's literature through established book awards and the the variety of children's literature, such as, novels and picture books. I studied the various techniques used in this genre to encourage and promote literacy in our children and how interest in literature is interpreted and changes over time.

EAD 830: Issues in Urban Education: Racial Achievement Gap Instructor: C. Dunbar Course Description: What I came to understand in this course is that a racial achievement gap exists in urban education for a variety of reasons, but the possibility of closing this gap is very real if educators are willing try new strategies toward equal education as proposed in the following paper.

EAD 861: Adult Learning Instructor: W. Arnold Course Description: I have taken several courses on adult learning believing it referenced non-traditional learning. What I am finding is that is a narrow view. Instead, this course focus' on formal and informal learning all adults experience beginning at age 18 and the many tools we each use to foster our learning and how institutions can enhance this learning for better student retention.

CEP 800: Psychology of Learning in School and Other Settings Instructors: C. Roseth and Z. Mural Course Description: How do we learn? Where do we learn? Do we learn alone or do we learn together? These are some of the questions involved in understanding learning within CEP 800. One unique assignment was to write a memo to whomever you wished regarding suggestions on learning.
